overlook the most oppressed race? Native Americans! You should really look at this link and then give me a good response (also, don't forget the true story of Columbus' "discovery" of the Americas):

I know what Columbus discovered thank you very much... the fact is that people talk about how oppressed everyone else is and always fail to mention Native Americans.. that is my case.

That link was just a little fyi.. not to fully support my argument. There isn't enough room on here to support my argument. I just wanted some opinions. Jews have not been oppressed in the United States.. Native Americans, African Americans, and Japense Americans.. these are examples of races that have been oppressed on these lands..

I agree. It's a shame what the pioneers did to the native americans. "Manifest Destiny" right? Giving the native americans disease ridden blankets in trade, and shooting the buffalo that they valued so much, just for sport. When Hitler was in power he admired how the Americans wiped out the native americans. He thought the same methods could be successful in Europe with the "inferior races." I don't think anyone should be proud of something that Hitler admired about our country.

natives oppressed. that depends, the natives that live where i live are not opressed at all. in fact they live much better then a lot of the white people. In many of the cases where i live if the native is oppressed it is their own doing.
yes it is horrible what the white people brought and did to the natives but that was long ago. That is no excuse for how they are today. I am just as native as any native although my skin is white and my ancestors came from holland and scotland. i was born here along with my grandparents. they had to make a living on their own. i also have to make it on my own. i choose to make a successfull life by working for it. Nothing has been handed to me. the natives around where i live have everything given to them. they dont pay taxes the mill here has to hire x amount of natives. they can fish when we cant it goes on and on. you tell me why i as a tax payer have to pay for their living they are not the ones that were miss treated. they are trying to claim all kinds of property that is bullshit.
if you have the inniative to do something and go somewhere with your life it does not matter what race you are.
mind you, i am from british columbia canada. maybe where you live it is much different but i do believe that if anyone is living oppressed there is a way out of it if you want it bad enough.

Native Americans aren't the most oppressed race, Jews are (FYI: they have a much longer, much more severe history of being oppressed). I'm not trying to be "racist/anti-sematic" [because I'm not], but in terms of facts and figures Jews have historically had the worste treatment.
It's a common European-based mindset: "I'm better because you're different". It's happened to every race that has been in contact with the "Western World".
Also, that link was not a good source. Maybe it's just my opinion, but it really didn't provide that much information.

yes i live in durango CO
right near the navajo nation of northern NM and AZ.
my college,
Fort Lewis College, has a tuition waiver for Native students,
so about 20% of my school are navajo or ute or other native clans.
some of my best friends are natives they do not consider themselves that oppressed....
i have had many a drunken conversation with them on this subject.
so don't beat yourself up about it.
it is not your fault, nor is it mine, and only a very few natives harbor this resentment.

They are not overlooked.. they have benefits in their "nations," they are running casinos tax free, and some people can claim that their parent or grandparent is a native american and get money benefits every year.

Why are you obsessing over it anyway. What's done is done! We cannot change it so why worry about it. Columbus discovered the West Indies, The island of Hispanola, not the continental US.
