Some blacks (not all) are overly sensitive and still seeking some identity. It seems what they want to be referred to as an ethnic group changes every so many years ... ***** to colored (as in NAACP) National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, black, brown, Afro-American appears to be safe to say these days and not be called a racist.
Some blacks are bound to be offended no matter what a white person refers to them as ... they've got a chip on their shoulder and are always headhunting for a fight or argument. These are the ones that call whites honky, cracker ... and each other the N word. It's OK for them to use those terms but let a white use the N word and there will be a riot. I think that if they recent and dislike the N word so much than nobody should use it ... not even themselves.
I am saying some not all ... saying all is ignorant and racist. Saying some is the simple truth.

In every race, in every culture there are people who are different. If all the world were black then there would be prejudice against those that were darker or shorter. If all the world were white it would be those that were taller and shorter, those that were fat or skinny, those that were ugly and those that were pretty. Whatever you are and what ever you look like or what ever the color of your skin be sure and confident that it really doesn't matter because you will be whatever you are until you die. Remember this: It's the people that put down others that are insecure about themselves.

Do you or Drgoodhi even know any Black people?
As soon as I hear a large group of Whites complaining about being called White, then that's when I and other minorities will stop calling you that. Now what would you prefer?

I have never heard a black person not wanting to be called black, I am multiracial (Black and White) and neither of my parents have ever said that, My mother wants people to call her black than African-American Because she is'nt from Africa, And My Dad has never said anything about being called white.
AND PLEASE RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING, Look at people has if they were colorless and we are all equal.

Get over it! You and all these race questions. I don't mind being called black and many other blacks don't care either. It seems it's you that has the problem.

Oh for God's sakes. My grandmother called them negroes. My mother called them colored. I call them Maurice, Jimmy, Shanikwa, Malcolm, Obi one. Who cares.
African-American? Give me a break. Should I call myself English-Irish-Norwegian-German-American?
We all bleed red. Enough said.

In America, who started the whole idea of persecuting people because of their color?
Black people didn't call themselves n iggers.
Talk to your grand pappy about the terrible state of race affairs in America. Maybe he can tell you why his great great grand father, felt the need to own other people and have them do their work for them.
