Usually lip locking is a form of courtship. The male and female will test each others strength, to ensure to the strongest mate. Typically this won't last long, and soon you may have fry on your hands, but if it does get out of hand (one or the other is being constantly chased, or wounded) you may have to separate them with a divider, or by removing one.

i hate those freakin convicts they killed all my other fish in my old fresh water tank (they ganged up on the weakest ones first then the bigger ones) its probably a mating ritual so id be lookin up breeding and deciding wheather you want a breeding pair or not!
