It has to be taken within 72 hours of having unprotected sex.

Since it has been determined that pregnancy occurs at fertilization the morning after pill will not keep you from getting pregnant. If an ovum has been fertilized you ARE pregnant. The morning after pill doesn't work like regular birth control in that it does NOT prevent ovulation or fertilization. It prevents implantation (only 85% of the time however) and is an abortive. You are just now thinking about taking it three days after the fact which would make the effectiveness less than 50%. You should have found out all about this BEFORE you had sex. If you ovulated and that ovum was fertilized you ARE pregnant.

Most of the time, they will not give you the pills unless you're within 72 hours of the time of unprotected sex. There are other options though. You'll have to speak with your doctor about this though.

Has to be taken withint 72 hours, longer you wait the less chance it'll work. They recommend you take it ASAP after having unprotected sex. Even if you take it now, there's like a 30% chance it'll work.

I think you can take within the first 72 hours after but the earlier you take it the more effective it will be.
