During World War One, what were some groups in America whose liberties or freedoms were threatened or not protected?

ALL Americans were at risk during during WW I thanks to the unconstitutional Espionage Acts. These acts (similar to the Alien and Sedition Acts of the 1790s) greatly limited the free speech and free press rights of individuals critical of the war overseas. But as far as ethnic groups such as Jews, Blacks, Asians, or Hispanics there were no groups that were disciminiated any more than any other (on account of the War itself.) Of course people of German ancestry were suspect but that is always the case when a country is at war with a particular country. Blacks were discriminated against during that time but NOT because of the war. It was simply the Jim Crow era and they will be discriminated against until the late 1970s and more and more equality laws and lawsuits were settled.

There was a backlash against German immigrants and against German Americans. My grandfather (who arrived in America when he was very young) was persecuted by his gradeschool teacher because of his German roots.
