Its pretty amazing the West was wide open last year and before the 2010 free agent class so was was the East. But it is very rare for both conferences to be open at the same time. Really we wont know until the playoffs start (where the real season begins) I mean look at the Celtics last year they nearly beat the Heat which no one saw coming. Right now in the East I can see Miami, Boston and if Andrew Bynum can get healthy the Sixers. In the West it is the definition of wide open the Thunder, Clippers, Spurs and Grizzlies. I would also add the Lakers, Nuggets and Mavericks as dark horses . If I had to narrow it down though I couldn't go past the Clippers. Sure its the Clippers but this team has something no other team in the NBA has- Depth and star power.

The Lakers' 33 game win streak took place in the '71-72 season.
The streak began on Nov 5, 1971, with a 110-106 win over the Bullets. They won their 33rd in a row on Jan 7, 1972 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Their streak ended on Sunday, January 9, 1972, against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the defending NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks, who defeated the Lakers on National TV in Milwaukee.
The loss to the Bucks was only their 4th of that season, to go with their 39 wins to that point.
Wilt Chamberlain was the dominant player during the Lakers' run that year.
The 33 consecutive wins is a record for any professional sports team in the United States.
The Lakers finished 69-13 and won the NBA title by defeating the Knicks in the NBA finals, in five games.

The 1971-72 LA Lakers, led by Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, and Gail Goodrich won 33 straight games.
They went on to finish 69-13 , the best record in ever until the 95-96 Bulls went on to surpass that, and won the NBA championship by beating the Knicks in 5 games.
One of the greatest teams in NBA history!
