It appears so. Two Super Bowls have featured Baltimore vs. New York (III, Colts-Jets; and XXV, Ravens-Giants), which by driving distance and direct distance appear to be about ten miles farther apart.

I'm going to have to say yes. Looking at the previous matchups the only one that may have been closer was the Giants and the Bills, but I'm guessing that's still further.
I'm actually a Bears fan living in Indianapolis so the next few weeks are going to be interesting. Needless to say I'm not going to be invited to many Super Bowl parties.

There have be 2 Super Bowls of opponents that are just slightly closer to each other than the Colts and Bears. Super Bowl III- Colts vs. Jets 171 miles Super Bowl XXXV- Ravens vs. Giants 171 miles

According to Yahoo, it's 188 miles from Baltimore to New York (Super Bowls III and XXXV) while it's only 180 from Chicago to Indianapolis.
Which means they should play the game in West Lafayette.

Yes. The closest to date was Baltimore v.s. New York. 183 miles between Chicago and Indy is the closest yet. New York v.s. Buffalo was over 300 miles.

Actually there are 2 Super Bowls that were closer....
Super Bowl III and XXXV....it is only 171 miles between Baltimore and East Rutherford, NJ.

I was wrong earlier about Chargers and the 49ers. They are about 500 miles apart where as Chicago and Indianapolis is 183 miles apart according to map quest.
