How big is the cage and what gender are the animals. I've never put a chinchilla with a rabbit so I don't know exactly what would happen between the species, but I do know that rabbits can be VERY territorial depending on gender.
If one is a male, I would not put them together...if the other is a female, then there's the obvious reason of mating, and if the other is a male then they will fight...and tear eachother apart.
If they are both females, then they might be fine, you'd have to keep an eye on them at first because they can get agressive too.
Also, the cage should be big enough for them both.

I wouldn't recommend keeping a rabbit in with a chinchilla. A chinchilla and a rabbit have different needs from each other and like stated, rabbits can be territorial and may kick/bite. Besides, a chinchilla cage isn't exactly like a rabbits' cage. Same goes for food and such.

I would not, because you don't know how they will react together. The rabbit mught try to be protective and hurt the chinchilla. Not perposly, but they will protect their terretory no matter what. Also you don't know how the chinchilla miught act. Your best bet is to put them in 2 seperate cages this way you don't have to worry about any type of mix breeding and you won't have to worry about the anuimals trying to go at each other when you are not around. You never know, but it could happen they are animals after all!

It is best not to house them together, they eat different food and shouldn't always eat what the other has for food. Also, if they do fight at any point your chinchilla is more than likely to get injured. They also can carry diseases that one can have no problems with that can harm the other, especially if they eat the poo.

Sure, they'll be just fine! Rabbits will breed with anything. I think the offspring are called "chinbits".
