I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. In the history of inventions, many of them have come about because people who were laid back didn't want to do things the hard way, so they came up with easier alternatives. They may have been lazy, but their achievements can't be denied.

They don't have to be. There is no incentive to be. The incentives are to be just the opposite and stay on the dole.
As long as politicians need votes, they will continue to call for the redistribution of wealth (not their own). They give from those that work to those that do not.

Achieve what? A big bank account and a gas guzzling vehicle? Anyone can do that.
A job should provide you with enough to meet your needs, but there's way more to life than that. Unless you're a Republican.

Because they don't do much. Your question answers itself. To achieve something worthwhile takes work. It doesn't have to be hard work although it usually is.
