Feminism has had a bumpy ride in the past 20 years, developed orthodoxies and warring camps and mutated into something the first, second and even third wave feminists would barely recognize, but at its core there is still (hopefully) a foundation of equal rights for women and consideration of women's issues.
What you're describing is a certain obnoxiousness that has used feminism as its self-justification, but to be perfectly honest, BOTH genders are obnoxious these days.

Feminists do not complain about our society, but fighting against social injustice. Today, you have a right for vote and education thanks to feminists' struggle that was not an easy job, but your salary is still lower than that of your male colleague for the same job and you are still forced to make a hard decision to give up or postpone your motherhood if you want to build your career or see a piece of the world. Your neighbor might still be a victim of domestic violence and some women in the world are still the victims of war rape. Unfortunately, feminists still have a lot of job to do for you though they are still forced to stand some people calling them "bytches".

The suffragettes who fought for the right to vote for women didn't call themselves feminists, they were known as suffragists or suffragettes. The word feminist was only introduced to the English language in 1894 from the French word féministe. Women had already begun their fight for the vote some years before this. I realise it's only word play but I'm not sure the women of that time would like to be pulled under the umbrella of feminism today.
The 'Feminist Movement' really began in the 1960's with what is now known as the second wave of feminism. These women were the bra burners and that was the beginning of women above men rather than equality for all. Those were the women who planted the seed of victim in many others heads and those are the ones who are still under the deluded impression that they are victims of men, oppressed by men and inferior to men. The only people who truely believe they are all of those things (spousal abuse by either partner aside) seem to be todays whineyassed feminists. In my opinion of course.
To answer your question though, the behaviour of the individual at the end of the day is what gives people the excuse to call them a *****. Many good women are being dismissed as man haters because of their poor judgement in jumping on the feminist bandwagon. These women need to have the courage to be themselves and show they are about true equality, without the need for pack protection, leading to group mentality and loss of their individuality.
Congratualtions anyone who read to the end of that rant, ty ty ty, *bows*!
Karma.

to say feminism is "just another reason to complain about our society" is like saying rasicm is "just another reason to complain about our society".
a lot of people tend to think "feminist" means "b*tch" but sometimes you have to be called a b*tch when your standing up for yourself & others. and some women don't care that they can vote & don't have to be the property of their husbands & can work. they seem to think they have it worse now that they have a choice, and condemn those who helped them get it, and those who take advantage of having the choice to work or to be a stay at home mom.
"Feminists ruined the USA. It should never have started. It put ideas into women's heads that the could work and were being oppressed by men and they forgot their first responsibility to their children and husband. " you mean ACTUAL democracy ruined the USA? and, excuse me, i CAN work, i DO work, and i haven't forgotten my family, thanks. by your standards, that must mean that fathers who work have forgotton their families as well, eh? you have no logic.

I think it has been hijacked by women who do want to do that. It seems that the most these type of women have done lately is stuff that actually hurts the feminist cause rather than help it.
Firstly, many of these so called "feminists" are really just trying to put men down and elevate the status of women above men - when true feminism seeks to redress the imbalance and make women equal to men (but still take into account their fundamental differences).
Secondly, I think these women have created tension due to the lies and misrepresentations that they have given in advance of their cause.

Absolutely not. Feminism is a direct result of centuries of persecution. It all started with securing sufferage for Women. We were not allowed to vote!!!!!!!!!
Once we were not able to own property, get divorced by our own accord, or turn down spousal sex!
In other words, we were freakin' property and now there are people that feel it is important to make feminists feel badly for the years of hard work and suffering all in the name of bettering the lives of every woman.

Feminism is a family destroying ethos, run for the benefit of lesbians (because it allows lesbians to florish) and capitalists (who want ever increasing consumption.
The faster it is rejected, the better.
