Wow, I would have never thought about that!! My kids are older, but that has never even crossed my mind before about the socks. I hope that other parents see this and take heed. I will be passing this info on to my step daughter who will be having a baby in June. Thanks for the info!

I am certain that is a freak accident that if it really did happen is a very rare occurance. If you want to post something trying to save childrens lives, why don't you post something abou the importance of safety around water and pools. I live in a city outside of Phoenix, AZ, and no matter what time of year it is you hear about children drowning in pools because of parents not watching their child, or broken locks on pools, or no fence around pools. No matter how careful you think you are... Drownings happen... everywhere. THAT is an issue, not putting babies to sleep with socks on.

By the way, Babies can begin taking swimming lessons at 6 months of age. It may not save their lives but it at least gives them a fighting chance if something were to happen, god forbid.

Thanks for the heads up. My daughter is 10 months and up till about a month ago I put socks on her everynight before she went to bed. I am just glad this didnt happen to her. Since she started pulling them off and chewing on them though I have quit putting them on her at bed time. This is great info though for our next child. Thank you so much...

I know you are concerned, but this is NOT a big problem for babies. I have NEVER heard of this before and I tend to think it is one of those untrue online scare stories that circulates every once in a while.

Thanks for the alert! I wouldn't have thought of that! Watch out for ball pins at fast food resturants! There was a boy who died from falling on a hypodermic needle in a pin!

That is awful, thanks for letting us know. I know a lot of parents that will not put a blanket in their child's bed either. They will put them in a sleeper. How sad for the parents.

Yes, accidents do happen. But that doesn't mean you should freak out about it. Don't post this crap. You're just going to scare new parents or parents-to-be.
