resorted to getting money off my parents. ( I still don't think this teaches me any lesson) any way, on the subject, my mum thinks I should buy a house/unit with help from them. Never knew what my plans of future were going to be when I was a kid but never thought I would buy a house on my own. My mum says that it is better to buy just in my name, that way I won't get screwed over if a relationship goes sour. I have been in two before and have left for certain reasons. I feel very unhappy about this decision and I feel controlled, but I know she just wants the best for me. I have committment problems. She and I have been close but now I think she is destroying my self esteem by looking after me so much, and I thought the only way to learn is to learn from mistakes, and she is not letting me make those major mistakes. The thought of buying a house with someone sounds easier, but is it really a problem. Please help me...i am so upset. I can't commit to work properly let alone a house!!

Mom is just being Mom. My parents played that crap hand on me too they actually tried to get me into an RV of all things. Yea I fell apart stumbled badly but recovered well out on my own now making more money than they ever dreamed I could and now have a NEW home in a nice area and all of it on my own.
Let mumsie help out and IT IS better to have it in your name alone. That way if a relationship goes sour you still have the house.

First you mom is a very caring mom. You should appreciate her love towards you. I am delighted that you mentioned that she is destroying your self esteem which means that you do have a self esteem in you. She takes care of you now when you are in problems, just get it up and do your part to get well on your own finances. When she is old, its your turn to take care of her. The world is a cycle of give and take. Unto yourself and you will find a new world waiting for you. The clue to make something work properly is to have objective in that action.

You could easily re-gain your self esteem by just sayin no to your parent help.
It is great to know that there is a safety net,but dont'let it choke you.
