I actually own a Range Rover, and it has been extremely reliable. It does have a drinking problem (about 13mpg), I would say it is worth it. Once you drive one, you figure out why people buy them- they are lots of fun to drive. You might want to buy a 2003-2005 as those have the BMW engine.

If you get a range rover defects and failures are the least of your problems, cause you're going to be paying a shitload on insurance.

But yes, range rovers are generally reguarded as unreliable.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but all British vehicles and motorcycles are unreliable. Been there and done that. New Mercedes 4X4 is the same way. Best are Toyota,Honda,and Lexus. Aviod Porsche,American,Nissan,and BMW.
