When i press the button i hear a noise that sounds like its about to open but it locks again and it wont open. My computer is also making a loud kind of "groaning" that goes on for a bit then stops then returns at a later time.

if it's an old drive, the belts are probably worn out. most cd drives have a tiny hole just below the door. if yours has one, stick a piece of firm wire and try pushing it (you are actually trying to spin a toothed gear) until the door open a little then pull it out. if you manage to open it, always have a cd loaded even when not in use.

The CD in the drive may be jammed, the only way to fix that is to disassemble the drive, and take out the CD. Best left to the professionals.

Download from here- lavasoft.de & update it & scan your pc for spyware. also use an antivirus scan. if nothing is found, there should be a *small* pin-sized hole by the drive. Get a pin or something that you can push into it. Push as far into it as you can & it should open the tray for you to manually open it...
