Pedicab, sometimes bike taxi or velotaxi, and sometimes they are called trishaws.

They are a way for many people to make a living, and they do not pollute as much as some other transporation sources, nor do they wear down the roads as quickly as a tuk tuk.

They seem to be ethical. No one forces someone to be a bike taxi operator, it is simply a way of earning a living. The larger issue would be the huge poverty pockets in India.
