I watched my mother nurse my father through 2 years of cancer...they'd been married 40 years. I also have watched her mourn for the last 8 years.....she's finally hauling it all together now, but it's been a struggle to say the least. Hun, this is a personal choice for you......get yourself informed of exactly what will be required of you when your partner does start to decline in health.....it's hard heartbraking work. I'm in both places now....I know what it takes to do this (from watching mom), and I'm also in love with possibly the best person on the face of this earth. I'd be ripped in half, but honestly, I'd have to say no to the marriage if it were me. It's not the work involved, it's the shattering of the heart later....I don't think I'm strong enough. You on the other hand might be. Get informed, add the information to what your heart is telling you and go from there. I wish you all the best in this and hope you come to a peaceful decision.

I hate to sound morbid, but sure, you will probably get bored with them in under 4 years, and then they will die. Then you have good experience in the married life, good experience with personal loss, and a new outlook on life. I am not trying to say you are using this other person, I am simply giving you some logical reasons why it is not as bad as it sounds.

in principle no,
But there could be many exceptions to this, child custody issues, life insurance, property disputes, are just a few. Do what is best for any children involved and yourself if you share property or other concerns.

If I loved this person I would definitely marry him/her if that's where our relationship is at. "Terminal" isn't "immediate". Good luck & peace to you both.
