They are not officially banned but organisers are requesting that people don't bring them, as after last year's riots they have come to represent gang colours. My bet is that this will be revoked though - keep an eye on the news and see what happens - it's causing outrage amongst many Australian spokespeople and some politicians are calling for the Big Day Out to be banned.

i think of its ******, so im going to the BDO this 12 months painted thoroughly blue, with the flag painted on my face, and wearing an aussie flag as a cape. Banned from flying the Australian flag in Australia? Having the shape moved forward an afternoon to "avert nationalistic overtones"? i do no longer think of so.

What i read is that they are asking people not to bring them!!!
that is the MEDIA saying they were banned
but everyone will bring them
its shocking that mob would even ask that of Aussies on Australia day
they are trying to change us & thats bad
