if you are a beginner then i would go for a corn snake as they don't grow that big and are very low maintenance. if you like big snakes i would go for a ball python as they are also one of the easiest snakes to care for. i would do some research on all the choices you have listed and find more about them as if you do you may find some thing out you didn't know before or something that may make you want to purchase a certain one. i hope my info has helped.

My uncle has several different species. Been raising them for 36 years. He says a corn snake or ball python. if you are a beginner, these would be a good choice.

I don't know much about ball pythons only that they get slightly bigger than a corn snake.
I have a corn snake and he's really sweet and mild tempered.

They are generally docile and easy to care for, and do not get too large, only 3-5 feet when matured. They can live up to15-20 years, sometimes longer.

But they are excellant escape artists, LOL, so be careful when planning their housing. They do not need elaborate housing. The most important part is to get a secure fitting lid that can be clamped down. They will push at the lid with their noses looking for weaknesses.

Newspaper is the utilitarian choice to put inside the tank or cage - it is very easy to clean up. Pine bark chips are another good choice - the chips soiled with poop can simple be scooped out. Don't put any sand, soil, corncob, pine shavings and cedar shavings in the cages. Not good choices.

Put a smooth curvy tree branch so they can climb around on.

A water dish should always be kept meticulously clean. They do have a nasty habit of pooping in the water bowl. Just make sure it's large enough for it to curl up in. They'll do that right before they shed.

A temperature of about 70-85 F should be kept.

The corn snakes are carnivores, which means you must be be prepared to provide prey (in this case mice). They should be fed prekilled mice or small rats. Hatchlings are started out on pinkie mice for feedings and the size of the prey can be increased as the snake grows. You can just the size of the mouse by looking at the size of the snakes head. the mouse can be as wide or a little wider than the snakes head.
Young growing snakes should be fed a couple of times a week, while adults need only be fed once every week or 10 days. A warning though (with any pet snake) ALWAYS wash your hands after you handle their food and feed them before you try to touch them. Even the most docile snake can strike at you if they smell the prey on your hands.

Be sure to maybe call your local animal service and inquire to see if they are legal where you live at. Some places don't allow them

First reply is good. Is there are reason you're limiting your choices to these?

If you can get something a little larrger than a hatchling corn, these are typically very good and docile animals and will be smaller (girthwise anyway) than a ball. Ball pythons are also a good beginer snake. Kingsnakes can be nice, but I've known a few that were nippy (and depending on the type of king, a 7 footer can give quite a nip).

Here are some websites that will give you info on several snake species:

Good luck and have fun!

Ball Pythons are a good first time snake. They are fairly easy to take care of and don't need a lot of things.
Corns and kings can be hard to get feeding on a regular basis.
They also have a tendency to become temper-mental.

I would say corn snake, but i'm biased. either that or a ball python would be really the best choices for a beginner.
