Thought I'd throw another question out there already.
I have to put 'Catch The Wind' at the top of my list. "For me to love you now would be the sweetest thing, 'twould make me sing...ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind..." Mmm. Lovely. 'Colours' would definitely be second - every time I hear it it's like I'm entering a different world - a prettier and more peaceful one.
How about you? What does the song you chose mean to you? :-)
Peace.

Fugazi - Awesome. I love Floyd.
Davey - That would be my third! I use it in e-mail and as a user name on sites. I LOVE "Atlantis". Did you know Paul McCatrtney sang on it? So many terrific artists did, but it's Donovan's voice that takes the cake. The Scottish accent at the storied beginning is as smooth and supple as poetry. Also, who else can sing the words "my antediluvian baby" and make it sound so good? Gorgeous. Do you know the Simon & Garfunkel song "Fakin' It"? It makes a reference to one 'Mr. Leitch' and, although I'm sure it was written in a bout of immature jealousy, I absolutely love that part of the song, always did. Rude but funny. You've got to give it to old Paul. He's one of the greatest musicians in the world. For you:

I had forgotten it was also featured in "Goodfellas"!

Thanks, all, for your answers thus far!

Claudia, Fugazi, kwb - Hope you enjoy! He looks terrific here. His hairdo and moustache were atrocious in the Atlantis video - but he DID look a little like George Harrison, especially in the mouth and profile view. Very cool.

I always loved, "Jennifer,Juniper." Did you know he wrote that song about Jennifer Boyd , sister of Patti Boyd.....who was married to George Harrison? "Juniper" was the name of a boutique Jennifer Boyd ran.
I think it is a beautiful song...light and airy, you know.
"Is she dreaming? Yes, I think so. Is she pretty? Yes, ever so..."
I am so glad that I was a teenager at the time of the Beatles and the British Invasion....the music was incredible. It seems as though every day some wonderful song was being recorded.

SUNSHINE SUPERMAN For sure!

Sunshine came softly through my a-window today
Could've tripped out easy a-but I've a-changed my ways
It'll take time, I know it but in a while
You're gonna be mine, I know it, we'll do it in style
'Cause I made my mind up you're going to be mine

I'll tell you right now
Any trick in the book now, baby, all that I can find
Everybody's hustlin' just to have a little scene
When I say we'll be cool I think that you know what I mean
We stood on a beach at sunset, do you remember when?
I know a beach where, baby, a-it never ends
When you've made your mind up forever to be mine

Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
I'll pick up your hand and slowly blow your little mind
'Cause I made my mind up you're going to be mine
I'll tell you right now
Any trick in the book now, baby, all that I can find

Superman or Green Lantern ain't got a-nothin' on me
I can make like a turtle and dive for your pearls in the sea, yeah!
A you-you-you can just sit there a-thinking on your velvet throne
'bout all the rainbows a-you can a-have for your own
When you've made your mind up forever to be mine
I'll pick up your hand and slowly blow your little mind
When you've made your mind up forever to be mine

I'll pick up your hand
I'll pick up your hand

Need I say more. It says it all! Reminds me of my earlier life!

I prefer Bob Dylan, but I would say "Sunshine Superman", because it reminds me of Syd Barrett

"Sunshine Superman" because it's funny.
