why do everyone there have to mention their names as they speak?

They only mention their first names. And it is part of working Step One: "We admitted we were powerless over alcohol and our lives had become unmanageable." When they say, "I'm so-and-so and I am an alcoholic" they are taking the first part of that first step.

They can make up a name if they want to! No last names are used either!!

helps people know that the people there are alcoholics and they have a name
and that could happen to anyone

To get to know each other I guess. I'm sure they can opt out of giving their names if they wish though.
