I have a couple black cotton t shirts that are too black. I want to make them look faded and worn. Can I just wash them in bleach water? Sometimes that makes them look brown. Rit makes "color remover" that is supposed to fade clothes. Has anyone tried it or have any other ideas? Thanks

i think the best way to do it without completely destroying the shirt would be to hang it on the clothe line in the sun for a while... if you're in australia this is quite easy as we have intense sun most days. only draw back it will take maybe a week in the sun to fade but better than chemicals.

Buy some detergent with bleach and run the water in the washer with the detergent in it. Then when it is dissolved and mixed well put the shirts in and let them agitate for a minute to get saturated then let them sit for at least an hour. This should lighten them some. Do this each time you wash them and it will do the job.

Just wash it and dry it...it'll fade over time.
