Raising marigolds in peat moss and vermiculite is fun. You can do all sorts of different things with them, such as some get more sunlight, some get water every day while another gets water once a week. Some get organic fertilizer, some get chemical, some get none. Some get silly things like tea, coffee, Pepsi, milk, etc.
Then measure them as they grow, and the one that blooms first, is the best way to grow marigolds.
Have fun! Then pot the flowers and send them home for Mother's Day with all the kids in the class.

I did this one and won 1st place in the 6th grade. Whick nose makes a model rocket go faster. We carved litle noses out of balsa wood then used a sextant to measure how high it went. then do the hypothesis, procedure resuls thing

We did music and heart rate.
We tried fast rap, slow classical and soothing jazz.
It was not only popular with the other kids and the teacher, it was fun to do too.
