Me and other people at my school are going to do a sit-in to protest the war. I was wondering what to do during the sit in besides making posters and such. i would appreciate ideas becuase we want to be taken seriously by others and not just thought of as kids who just want to get out of class.
P.S Some people are afraid of getting expelled. I would like to know if the pricipal could expel us for this.

What to do? You can create a chant. Protesters seem to really like repetitive, rhyming chants. Something like "Hell no we wont go" or something like that.

Can the Principal expel you? Sure, Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Don't do the sit in if you can't accept the possibility that this might (will) get you into trouble. You don't have the right to disrupt others right to an education to make your political points.

Yes, you could be expelled. Something you need to realize, you freedom of speech, assembly, and expressions are not protected dunring school. It is against the law to disrupt the school day.

Why protest at your school? They have no say in what is happening around the world. And, minus any local coverage, if any, no one will hear about this protest other than parents being called to pick up there kids and schedule a conference to discuss their suspension/ expulsion.

and having a sit in in your school would be effective how...?
i'm pretty sure if you know enough about the war to have valid opinions, then your other classmates would have enough knowledge about the war without a protest.
don't bother. you're probably gonna get into trouble.

how about instead of wasting your time spending extra time at school doing nothing. get an after school job or join a club or sports team. I'm sure the U.S government will feel the heat when a couple of highschool students spend extra time after sitting around doing nothing.

I have a novel idea. Why don't you take all that energy and volunteer to help the political party of your choice. Do something that might be EFFECTIVE instead of making a humorous story for the local cable news outlet.

During school hours, you are required to attend school and be in class. Staging a sit in is truancy and you can be subject to discipline.
