There are some very interesting species from Mexico that you won't find in the "big box" pet stores, several species of a family called Goodeids, Rainbow Goodeids,Red-tailed Goodeids, quite a few more. There is a group of fish in the genus Illyoden, the main one being Illyoden Furcidens these guys look like fingerling bass. They don't have many fry at once, but the fry are large easily over 1/2 at birth, and the parent fish don't eat them. There are some small sort of guppy-like fish called Endler's livebearers that are kind of interesting also a group of fish called "Mosquito Fishes" that are live bearers. Some sharks are livebearing too. The Coelacanth,a fish that lives in the deep water west of South Africa, and thought to be extinct until somebody caught one,is also a livebearer. To get information about more fish check out the American Livebearer Association,an organization of people who really know a lot about livebearing fish. They probably have a website.----PeeTee

I have guppies, and they are born live. They are truly amazing and very very tiny. However, they grow very quickly and multiply if you do not separate the males/females. You can go from 3 or 4 fish to a school of more than 50 before you know it. But if you do not separate the babies from the adults, they will get eaten. So then you have another problem.

Good luck, hope this gives you a bit of information.

No I'm sorry to say that fish only breed within their own breeds. So i have no idea why your guppy is giving birth to these rainbow fish. Are you sure your guppy is the one birthing. Well if you want to get rid of the fish ( I don't wanna say this... ) but buy a larger fish eating fish or frog.... But I would never do that but its up to you.

Not all egg layers are difficult - White Cloud Mountain Minnows are the egg-laying equivalent of guppies - add a plant (java moss or hornwort) and water and they'll pretty much take care of the rest themselves!

Guppies (all kinds), Mollies (all kinds), platys (all kinds), Swortails (all kinds), etc. Ask your pet store. Buy a separate tnk or a net for the fry because the parents will eat them after they are born if you don't remove them or if you don't have enought hiding spaces (like plants and foliage) in your aquarium.

Good luck! Live bearers are the best! They can even have several fry without a male. They store the sperm! I fonly humans were like that!
