I'm not inexperienced I have 5 Iguanas, 1 Basilisk, 5 Eastern Box Turtles, 3 Firebelly Toads, and 1 Frog. I had a Ball Python and a Water Dragon, but since all my reptiles are rescues the were to sick and died sortly after getting them. I would like another Ball Python if someone has one the are trying to get rid of.

This is to theropingeffect, I have saved about 40 reptiles in the past 2yrs. and I have only lost three. They died because of ignorent people who don't care for them properly and by time they get to me they are to far gone. I take all of them to the vet and try my very best to save them but they were too sick. Ihave brought tons of reptiles back from death so don't dare tell me I shouldn't be saving these animals!

You have a lot of experience. It's just bad. Maybe you are not fit for being a rescuer of reptiles. Maybe you should just invest some money on a healthy pet and be happy with that.

If you're really looking to "adopt" this site may help you:

I agree it would be helpful to know you're experience level. I'll take a wild guess (from your name) that you're into lizards! If you're up to it, adopting a previously owned lizard is an inexpensive way to get one, but be aware many of these were not kept properly and may have physical and behavioral problems. Still, many have "pet" potential, but it will be more work, because you're dealing with older animals with set behaviors. You can also check on the internet to see if you region/state has a herpetological society. Often they are contacted for rescues and homes for unwanted pets.

The homepage of the above website also has a link to a classifieds section. You can also try Yahoo! yellow pages and search for "pet store" and see what comes up. Once, then I was travelling, I found a supplier for frozen bloodworms for baby axolotls this way!

It all depends on what your looking to do with it. If you want one thats good to handle or if your looking for a showpiece. I always say start with geckos. Leopard gecks are easy to maintain and you can hanlde the guys, House geckos are cute and fun to watch but you cant handle them they will run off and youll never find them . Cornsnakes can have beautiful colourings and and handleable.
Without knowing what level of hobbiest you and assuming this is a first go with a gecko.

Adopt does not mean free. Most people will want an adoption fee. Check out all the shelter animals on petfinder.com as well as the Adoptable pets that people post in the classifieds on Petfinder.
