It is a matter of size, not weight. If a person is too large to fit into the restraints, then they cannot ride. It depends on how a person is built. For example, a guy with a large chest may not be able to ride, but someone else that weighs more than him might. It depends on the restraint system, and how a person is proportioned. Many parks offer "test seats" to allow a person to see if they are able to fit comfortably, that way patrons avoid the emberrassment of being turned away because of their size/proportions.

Weight Limit For Roller Coasters

There is not a weight limit on roller coasters. The thing that matters is if you can fit into the seat with the restraints closed. This is also why a lot of the bigger coasters have a minimum size also.

This is not always people who are bigger around, but bigger tall. Six Flags MM has Deja Vu, and if you are taller than 6'3" you can not ride. This is because of how the trains come close to each other, if you were taller you would have your head cut off and that is really not good for any roller coaster.

Several parks that have these restrictions will provide a test car. Which is a lot better than having to wait in line and then getting denied when trying to ride.

Only on some when I was at kings island or kennywood one of the two someone got in the seat to ride the coaster the seat belt or the bar that goes down did not click neither would the seat belt so he couldn't get on.So no there is not necessarily a weight limit but if you are to overweight and the safety belt doesn't click you won't be safe throughout the ride especially if it's a hanging coaster or a upside down coaster.

Hi, my name is Chris Yap. So, regarding about your question, I think a roller-coaster don't have a weight limit. This issue depends on the seat belt whether you tie it or not because maybe some will fall off of the roller-coaster.

no theres no weight limit. there is a size limit. I used to work at great america in santa clara, ca on the a ride called the grizzle. Alot of times some big ppl would fit but others wont. if the lap bar or seat belts dont fit right the works have to tell you, you cant fit right. its very embarresing for both the works and the person. But then there other times if your to tall. I couldnt go on a ride once cause my legs were to long. then once my friend couldnt ride cause the sholder harnest couldnt go down all the way cause her boobs were to big so...it just all depends on the ride.

Usually if there has been problems with weight (Well not weight exactly, more of a size problem) they have seats outside the ride that will see if you can fit in the seat. I don't think weight is a issue since the ride should be very safe..

Actually it is more of a size issue as many of the seats won't accommodate more than a size 16 in them.
You just have to go and see if you fit, lots of people try and get back off because the latch bar won't come down far enough (guys with beer bellys a problem too)
