Having the prostate removed is not the same as being castrated. Castration is removal of the testicles. This would lead to marked decrease in libido, but the man in question could still have erections.

This depends on the particulars of that person's case. If this is someone who lost testicles to cancer, they likely can. The surgical procedure to remove testicle tends not to cause a lot of nerve damage. Prostate surgery, on the other hand, can cause a great deal of nerve damage.

I have worked with a couple of men who had prostate surgery and they say that nothing works for them.

Yes. I have a friend who had testicular cancer and lost both of them to the disease. Far as I know, he can still make love to his wife.
