So...there are the following to consider:
1) Hundred year old trees and a stadium are knocked down by hurricane force winds....
2) Same storm ravages Alberta and Sask. with wicked temps and loads of snow...
3) Manitoba gets 35 mc of snow
4) Ice storms followed by mild temps, followed by more ice storms in Ontario and Quebec.
5) Hurricane force winds and storms in East, and still as a result of the same system (for those who don't know...that shouldn't happen....almost never happens..) (Seriously..a hurricane force storm travelling a continent....DOESN"T HAPPEN!!)
6) 40 people die in Germany due to storms.
7) Snow in texas???
Where is your fallacy that is it fictional now???

My apolgies...I think you have misunderstood...sarcasm doesn't come off well in print.
my point is that there are huge changes in global temperate cllimate, so how can we argue that it is a myth???
a hurricane style system going across a country...dont know about the rest of you, but I DO NOT remember that happening before....or how many people dying last summer from heat...and they say the next summer will be the worst on record???

You cannot debate the science...it is happening. Our arrogance in the present is astonishing...if we don't do something now, the people that will get hurt are our children and grandchildren...get we get past the partisan BS for their sake???

Accurate measure of weather and temperature has only been taking place for about the past 200 years. There is no way of comparing data to see if this really is abnormal, since there are no records to compare. Global climate change does happen, and we are likely in warming period.
Hurricanes can and do damage things such as trees and structures. Winds can reach almost 200 miles/hour which would be equivalent to wind speeds during a F-3 tornado.
Where does it say that it is not possible for a storm system to travel great lengths? Perhaps it has not been yet recorded, but it certainly is possible.
Have you ever lived in Texas? The panhandle usually sees at least a little bit of snow every year. Snow along the gulf also happens on occasion.
I am not arguing that we are possibly seeing a change in weather, but we shouldn't flatter ourselves to think that in a mere couple hundred years we have caused such a change. Weather does and will continue to change.

And on the notheast coast of America we have had 60 degree weather up until this week, when we should have been seeing snow by Christmas. I would call that a warming effect.
Our past summer had more days over 90 in the mountains, where the usual temperature is in the 80's. Yes, there is definetly global warming. It may not be everywhere, but there is a change in the world's weather and it's not a good sign

If we have a hot summer, it's global warming. If we have a cold winter, it's global warming. If we have hurricanes, it's global warming. If it snows a lot, it's global warming. If we have a drought, it's global warming.
Consider this: Check out some old news magazines from about 20 years ago. Scientists were warning that we were going into a new Ice Age. Now, these people are saying it's global warming. Well, which is it?
Do any of you remember the furor over Y2K? How come we don't hear about Y2K anymore? When are you people going to smarten up? Stop being so gullible!

In response: we don't hear about Y2K anymore because we have passed that threshold. There were many precautions that went into effect in the time leading up to the turn of the millenium, but once we crossed the threshold there was no more need to be worried. In this case, there is no set threshold for global warming, except for the polar ice caps melting which when it happens you will be wishing you had taken this more seriously

Consider that in the late 1970's we had this same kind of issue only it was the ice age. So in the last 20-30 yrs we went from an ice age to global warming. Now tell me, where is the fiction!!!

OK Global Warming is no myth, but let's not forget the impact of the current El Nino that is the cause of much of this bizarre weather. Here in Tulsa, we still have 2" of ice on the ground that fell here last Friday....now that ain't normal, but it's part of the El Nino effect.

I think that peoples argument about the myth of global warming has to do with whether or not it's "man made". Obviously something is happening. Is global warming and enviromental change man made or not is the argument.

It cannot be a myth. The last decade has been the warmest with glaciers melting and sea levels rising. But then such warnings are not heeded by the people who matter.

Also, how much the polar ice caps have melted since planes started flying over & taking pictures. Fish which need cold water are dying as are polar bears since the ice flows are melting.

No its not a myth... Its happening but we arent the cause of it..thats all media hype..Its mother nature preparing for a major climate change .Mt St Helens and also Mt Pinatubo put more greenhouse gases in our air than we have done in all the years of our polluting so it really makes no difference what we do or don't do.Our earth is ever changing as it has been since the beginning ..Our climate is constantly forming and reforming and if history and geology are correct its time for a major shift in our weather and climate and even perhaps the earth on its axis ..Its all mother nature perhaps getting ready to elimate one dominant species and begin with another. Its been like that since the beginning and shall always be.. so no use to fret it would happen with or without us
