One of my applications is asking for my GPA, but it's asking for it in a letter grade (A+, A, A-, etc.). I know my GPA is about a 3.97...does anyone know what letter grade that would be, or what I should put on the application? Thanks!

Okay, I wanted to add two things. First, the method of entering the grade is in a drop down menu -- I can't type in anything myself, and the options that are given as A+, A, A-, B+, etc. (like I said before). Also, my semester hasn't ended yet, and I'm expecting my GPA to be at a 4.0 after the semester...should I take that into consideration or not? Thanks again!

Actually your GPA would be an A. In college a A- is 90-93 and A+ doesn't exist.

B+ 87-90
B 83-86

If you get an A, it won't hurt your GPA. After your percentage grade determines your letter grade, they only use the letter grade to determine GPA. However, if you get an A- (as you imply you might) then at some schools, this will count as a 3.67 in the calculation of your GPA.

That's an incredible grade! Good for you!

Actually, I think that should count as an A because there's no way to get a higher numerical grade than 4.0 and you're only .03 off. Thats three hundredths -- close enough in my book. I don't know how one would get an A plus under that numerical system, I've always wondered.

Congrats and good luck.

Your GPA in a letter grade would be an A, it would not be a B because anything BELOW 3 pts is a B..anything above is an A.

The other guy is wrong. 3.0 is a B. So 3.97, which is almost a 4.0, is almost perfect on a 4.0 scale.

3.97 is closer to A+, maybe an A.

That's Great!
You should be very proud!

I would say it is an A, but I would also put the numerical GPA in parenthesis next to it. Then again, I am anal like that and you may not be.

A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1
F = 0

If your gpa is a 3.97, that is a solid A in my book! Congratulations.

This is how the GPA works in my university.
For your CGPA, (Cumulative GPA), add the number values up and divide by the number of courses.

You cant be at a 4.0 once you have a 3.97 as 4.0 is perfect

A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1

So your letter grade would be a B (perhaps B+ if they allow plus signs).
