It depends on the individual.

I have heard that statement before, and classify it as a stereotype.

Some people who cheat do so because they have not mentally matured, or because they feel their partner does not care. And they want to get a reaction out of them.

There are others who after they have cheated suddenly realise what it was that they were risking, and stop their cheating ways.

It is easy to point the finger and say "why did they have to cheat in order to realise it" But in truth and not just for cheaters I am sure there is something we have all done and then realised afterward how big the consequences of out actions were.

For me I used to wonder what it was like to wear glasses, or to get to use crutches.

Then one year after wondering why I had trouble reading what the teacher wrote on the board I found out I was short sighted, then later that same year I was running around on a sunny day, slipped in a puddle of mud, and realised how hard it was to get around on crutches.

In short we don't realise what we had/have until we don't have it anymore, then we want to try and get it back and hope for a second chance.

Amber,
I always see that saying posted on here, I don't agree with it either. It isn't true for everyone!

The statement means if you do it once ...you might do it again

you need to understand why you cheated in the first place. if you don't know why then you will probably do it again.
