That totally depends on the length of the songs and what format they are in not to mention what bit rate they were ripped at!

How many songs can be fit depends on the bitrate of the songs. The higher the bitrate, the more space the song takes up. My suggestion is that when you download songs, try to look for ones in the 128 kbps range. The problem is that lower bitrates get slightly less quality.

It depends on many factors: file format, compression ratio, length of song, bit rate, etc.

Most of the songs I have that are ripped from CD's in MP3 format average about 3MB

There are 20,480MB in 20GB so:

20,480MB/3MB = about 6500 songs. Your results may vary.

In mp3 format, figure 1 mb per minute. This is just over 1000 minutes for 1 gb, so 20,000 minutes in your 20 gb drive.

If you are storing your music in .wav format, figure on 10 mb per minute.

I don't know how long your songs are.

Songs average 3-4MB in size so would be 6666-5000 songs.

Depends on how you have the songs encoded.
a 128kbps MP3 is about 4mb for the average song
a 320kbps MP3 is about 8mb for the average song.

estimate each song is 4mb. there is 1024 mb in a gig. so 20gigs would be 20,480mb.
that divided by four is 5120 songs estimated
