Having a grown child and now a toddler I realize that I used to do all that stuff... well, not exactly. I never EVER hired a limo - not for any reason now that I think about it or rented a pony or even a clown or magician. But I did organize tie-dyed t-shirt making and elaborate treasure hunts and "build your own cupcake" activities but honestly the best party that my oldest remembers to this day is her 5th when she got a new bike and so we had her party at the park and invited all her friends to come and bring their bikes, skateboards, rollerblades....... EVERYONE had a good time that day... as it turned into an impromptu grill-out at the park cause nobody wanted to leave.... but I did not do this to impress anyone, I did it cause it was fun and I love watching children play.....

I totally agree. Like the article said, kids don't care how perfect everything is, they just want to have fun which usually means just playing around with other kids, they don't need frickin cougars or stretch limos! Ridiculous!

This kind of stuff does happen too much....
I know someone who really did have a stretch limo pick up 7 year olds for a party....I'm not kidding

I think that people have to much time on their hands. If I want to spend a million dollars on my daughters birthday party, then whose business is it. No money out of their pockets.

That's ridiculous Birthday's don't have to be expensive and lavish for them to be memorable.
