Sounds like you'd go for some of AFI's newer stuff, from Sing the Sorrow or Decemberunderground (any earlier and their punk-metal roots show blatantly). One of my faves is "The Missing Frame", or maybe "37mm"... so many great songs.
Also, try Angels and Airwaves... pretty good
...Maybe L'Arc~en~Ciel, if you can take Japanese
