Why is everyone saying "Da bears"?
I even see it written that way in newspaper articles.
Is there a reason?

We all say, "Da Bears," because of the Saturday Night Live skits, from the early to mid 1990's. The hilarious "Bill Swerski's Super fans" skits included Chris Farley, Mike Myers, and George Wendt, and they portrayed fans in a bar, eating sausages and drinking lots of beer.

The former coach said it that way as the Daleys (Mayors), then SNL made a skit about it. If you say the bears in a chicago accent, you get Da Bears.

I live in Chicago and I'm happy to score 39 to 14. :) I think it's because people wrote it how they say it. No one says "The Bears" everyone runs it together when talking and comes out " Da Bears"

Just the regional way DITKA (1985 super bowl champion coach, MIKE DITKA) said it, with his regional accent. Then there were skit on saturday night live that made fun of it and popularized it at the same time. It just sort of stands, to this day.

cuz in illinois thats how they say it. its like saying the bears, but not. my aunts last name is crowm so when she sends me a present (shes from illinois) she says " from 'da crowms "
im so stupid. i dont kno why they say it.....
...so delusional i could throw up...

I hate those ****** bears. They cost Da Saints a super bowl chance for the first time. but the snl was cool.
