Dwarf hamsters typically are more agressive then the larger breed hamsters. Get the male his own cage or she'll kill him. I used to breed Dwarf and one of my females was so agressive that only my son could handle her with gloves on. Her mate was smart and stayed in the upper level of their cage. He had his own food and water supply. She was handled constantly and eventually calmed down. I could hold her without the gloves after several months. It's up to you, but if she's still under warranty, you can always take her back to the pet store and get a different one. She'll be considered unadoptable and well, become food. My son always adopts the worst behaved ones he can find. He likes a challenge in training them to being handled. We named some, Taz, Demon, Meanass, Porcupine, Psycho, you get the idea here. If you choose to return her consider a large breed hamster, you can use one cage and mix a male and a female without getting any babies. Genetically impossible. Get another female dwarf if you were intending to breed. Read this site below on hamsters first though, it's quite helpful.

If you picked your pair from a cage of more than 2, your female may have already chosen her mate, which you've separated her from & she's not accepting the new male you've put her with, especially if she's already pregnant by the male SHE chose.

If i were you i would just keep them separated. If you leave them together they could end up killing each other.
