The area of a triangle is defined as A=1/2 * B * H
B = 1 (that is given)
A = 1 (that is given)
We need to find Height
Substitute in the formula
1 = 1/2 * (1) * H
1 = 1/2 * H
(2/1) * 1 = (2/1) * 1/2 * H
2 = H or H = 2
That means that if the triangle's height is 2 miles and the base is 1 mile, then the area is 1 mile.

area = 1/2 * base * height and base = 1, area = 1

1 = 1/2 * 1 * height

height = 2

so the triangle has base 1, height 2, area 1
