I've worked at my company for 7 and half months already.I love my job as a purchaser even tho it is stressful and I must follow the datelines. The downside is that my boss is racist towards me,my supervisor is so uncouth(she would shout or burp loudly even when there is a supplier/customer),my colleagues think I m incompetent and they treat me like I m not there. If u were in my place what would u do?
Tolerate them or quit?
I want to further my studies but not now.

If you love your job, that is a great thing! Regarding people who treat you like you are not there, I know how that can feel. It feels terrible. Look within yourself. Why do you think they feel that way? Are u too quiet. Do you try to mingle with them. Try to improve your relations with people around you. Do them favors. Make them feel welcome. Always say hi to them. Smile at them. Be pure hearted. U will feel good about yourself when u do that. If they still don't respond, still be cool with them. Maybe you could even talk to them about it. Cold wars at workplace are not good at all. However much we like our job, but if we dont like the people we work with, it all goes waste.

Regarding the racism thing, I think we all go through that in one form or another. I am from another country, and I know what u mean. I go through that feeling all the time. It hurts. Sometimes we can't do anything about it. Other times we can speak up. It depends how serious it is.

Regd your boss burping....or shouting in front of customers, that's truly unprofessional. I guess u just hv to tolerate that. Or leave them a unsigned note saying "ur behavior unfortunately is driving our customers away". I was kidding....I guess =). I guess bosses have their own styles, and we can't do much.

So all in all, try to see what u can change and what u can't.
Ask yourself what can u do to have a happier day at the workplace. And then do it.

It depends really on how bad you need your job. If that's not important then the decision would be easy. The longer you stay where you cannot stand your environment the more you will grow to hate it. Also, as you stay, you may begin to make more money making it harder to leave. This could leave you in a position of feeling trapped.. It's all up to what you think you can deal with. Who knows though, two weeks from now someone could quit (boss, supervisor) and you will be working with new people, or not. You are the one who ultimately has to decide. Being forced to go daily where you hate to be is not good for you though. It wears on you. Don't quit without another job to go to. You never know how long it will take to get another. I did that once. Yep, it sucked.

Good luck

Try to look up for new opportunities, You should submit your resume to leading jobsite like www.monster.com, www.careerbuilder.com. Also you should consult local placement consultant in your area. In the meantime, look out for an option to work online. Although it wont pay you like full time job but you can make extra cash in your spare time. I am a part time worker doing work online at home, so I would like to share a link where you can make $600-$1500 in a month working at home. The work need to be done is posting/answering a discussion and uploading any photo/image of your interest. For details visit
http://ommc.blogspot.com
I will publish few more genuine site in couple of weeks, where you can earn money. You may also write to me at talkofmoney@rediffmail.com (Note: When u are planning for a home based online work, be careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site.)

I would say that you should tolerate it until you find another job. Then, once you do, give notice and tell the employer your concerns about the working environment so that they can improve upon it.
