The building blocks of DNA are (deoxy) nucleotides triphosphates (dNTPs)
a nucleotide consists of a sugar (deoxyribose group) connected to a base (adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine).
these nucleotides are connected to eachother in a chain by means of the phosphate groups (phosphodiester bonds).
