It's been more than just a few years since I last ran a "Code," but back then, Sodium Bicarb was always the electorlyte of choice.

To answer this, I believe we must consider which species produces the most ions in solution.

MgSO4 vs NaHCO3?

In this case, both of these things are completely ionized in water and BOTH yield the same amount of ions, so one is just as good as the other in terms of electrolyte capabilites.

Now, physiologically speaking, one might prefer the Sodium Bicarbonate.

i dont know but you can refer to the metal reactivity and the capability of the particular electrolytes to accept or donate electrons (electronegativity).
