I was supposed to start my period on jan 17th. I took a pregnancy test 4 days before my missed period (the one that you can take 5 days before your missed period) and it was negative, but now I am 3 days late. Did I take the test too soon? Does it always show if you are or are not 5 days sooner with that kind of test?

Yep you took it too soon... so many times we've posted on here, the box says 5 days before but it's B/S... take it the first day your period is missed if you want an acurate read.. but noooo nobody listens!
hehe... i'm jsut playing btw... but those tests are b/s... take another and find out for sure :)

Definitly could be pregnant. If you are not far enough along then it will say neg! If you normally have a period at same time each month and it lasts same amount of days.. Then you suddenly don't start for 3 days then I'd say pregnant! I took a test all 3 times the day after I was supposed to start and I was pregnant all 3 times! Dollar General tests are what I used and they worked great! If a test has a dark line and the second line is even barely faint then you are prego! Good Luck

Take one now since you are late, if you read the instructions for the test it will tell you the percentage of correct readings 5 days, 4 days, and so on before your missed period. So take another test now to ease your mind, but you might also be late because you are stressing over if you are or not pregnant. Good luck either way

The test I took didn't show up positive until one day after my missed period. Sometimes those tests that can detect early HCG levels don't pick up those levels very well. Read the packaging -- the percentages of a false negative decrease as the days progress closer to your missed period date.

i 2 also took one 4 days early with a dollar store it was real light positive that you would have to hold in the light to see. took one 4 days after that and it was darker. so test again you might not have concieved on the day you thought. you have to be 5 weeks still nothing go get blood test done

I took a test before I knew I was pregnant and it said negative for me too. Now I have a 3 and a half month old :) they can give false negatives :)

Just take one to put your mind at ease...buy a 2 pack and take one now then wait and see if you ever do get your period and take the other one. Good Luck.

I'd do another one.....maybe it was too soon....or maybe the line was so light you missed it.
