while pregnant and still had a safe pregnancy?? I am currently in cardio kickboxing classes and not too sure if I should keep that up with all the jumping around but I need more than just walking. I am only about a month pregnant now.

please keep up with exercising! it is the best thing you can do for yourself during pregnancy. while i was preg with my last son, i continued with working out on the elliptical 30-45 min. a day. i was skinnier after delivery than before i got pregnant! plus it really helped keep my energy up. just make sure you don'y get too overheated...basically listen to your body and keep you doctor informed of any changes. there's a really great book that I used for my workouts...it's called "Buff Moms-to-Be". you can get it on amazon. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!

I am also over weight (have been for all but my 1st pregnancy) Now is not a good time to start thinking weight loss. Definately drop the kickboxing class. If you feel the need to work out more than just walking I would sugest Water Arobics (Very low impact) or Mommy to be Yoga classes. Alot of places offer "Maternity" workouts. ALWAYS discuss exercise during pregnancy with your doctor BEFORE you start it. Mainly just eat healthy foods. I'd say that you should be looking at gaining about 15 lbs by the time all is said and done (thats what I usually gain anyway). Feel free to email or IM me if you have further questions reguarding overweight pregnancy. I'm something of a pro at it lol.

You should talk to your doctor but if you are currently over weight you might want to do some exercise that your doctor recommends because believe me the more weight you gain the more you will have to lose when the baby comes because not all of the weight gain goes to the baby you will remain some of the weight known as baby fat so take care and be careful on how much weight you gain. Walking is the best exercise because it stops most of the water gain going to your feet when you are sitting keep your legs elevated because this will relieve most of the swelling going to your feet and legs.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I am 30 pounds overweight and about a month and a half pregnant. I don't excercise at all. My mother told me I need to try and walk every day. I have back problems so I can't really do too much more excercising than that. I don't really think you need to be too worried.

Talk to your doctor, but you may be able to safely gain 15-25 pounds. As for kickboxing, you can continue but may find it is uncomfortable and difficult as your pregnancy progresses. Your balance and center of gravity will change.

It is best to talk to your Doc about any exercises plan because what is good for one pregnant woman is wrong for another. Best of luck.
