WHAT IS TERRORISM?? Eversince man walked on earth, jealousies,greed and power were the order of the day!! WHAT IS NEW ABOUT MANKIND???? DESTRUCTION AND WARS ARE WRITTEN ALL OVER THE FACE OF MANKIND!! NOT A SINGLE MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE EXISTENCE OF MANKIND IS REAL PEACE !!!!! IT TAKES A BIGGER WAR TO END ALL WARS!!! IS THIS HOW A MAN OR NATION WILL THINK--TO FIGHT,TO KILL,TO DESTRUCT,TO DESTROY???? IS THIS THE ONLY ANSWER,THE ONE AND ONLY ANSWER------ IS TO HAVE WARS AND MORE WARS TO END A SINGLE WAR??? Any man or nation can spread terror as and when it wants to !!BUT asked ourselves this question---what will I benefit if I spread terrorism??What is the secret agenda I want to be accomplish--- by spreading terrorism to certain parts of the world???? A person or nation can played a double- agent role--one as a "cowboy" and another role as a "Red Indian"!!!!! Terrorism is a deadly game--only play by nations who possessed POWERand MIGHT seeking only to destroy---- so as to benefit their own "secret agenda".Deception and trickeries are used as tools to undermine ordinary men's senses of perception of how the world should be!! Now the world is a dangerous playground only for"cowboys" and "Red Indians" to play AT THE EXPENSE OF MANY,MANY INNOCENT LIVES LIVING IN THIS WORLD!!!!!WHY NOT THE WHOLE WORLD SPEAKS AND DEBATE HOW TO DEAL WITH TERRORISM---instead of depending on one nation and one voice to speaks; based on their own perception of how the world should be in the future!!! After all THE WHOLE WORLD BELONGED TO MANY,MANY NATIONS AND COUNTRIES AND UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DOES NOT OWN THE WORLD!!!! LET THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD SPEAK!!!! The question is" How do we,as people of the world, deal with terrorism and what real actions to execute these plans to stop terrorism in this world??? INTERNET is the modern tool of communication and it allow everyone in this world to participate.Set up an international website for people every where to deliberate on this serious issue.Anyone who speaks,represent himself and NO POLITICIAN nor any SENATOR to speaks!!! the only problem i see with your argument is that the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki were not politically or religiously motivated, which are determining factors of what makes an act terrorism. where the blockades would have ended the war with japan is a subjective argument - a what if scenario that cannot be proved either way. however, the bombing succeeded in drawing the war to a close and saving the life of many US service men who otherwise would have been island hoping to secure individual objectives until the japanese finally conceded. using your thought process, any act of war, even in retaliation, is terrorism. equating those actions under the blanket of terrorism makes light of the true horror of actions tar getting civilians. i would submit the greatest act of terrorism has been caused by al gore related to global warming. the sole achievement is to scare the hell out of everyone for something that does not exist... Additional: you need to learn the difference between politically motivated and militarilly motivated. the bombing was the latter. and if you think those 250,000 were all civilians, your knowledge of history is quite lacking...

No, I don't believe so. Let's face it, the Basque terrorists are still out there after decades of violence. Terrorism in Northern Ireland was not checked by military action, but instead by good police work, solid intelligence gathering, the use of the SAS, and by good old diplomacy.

And the Israelis have been unable to stop terrorism through military might. The Germans couldn't stop Tito and look at how long it took them to suppress the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the later Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The Germans suppressed both brutally and it took them months to finally win.

We have spent almost 4 years trying to control the main roads in Baghdad and still haven't gained control.

Let's see if this time next year we are still wondering how to beat the terrorists in Baghdad.

Terrorism is the result of a sick and twisted social and religious trend. Warfare only throws gasoline on the fire and gives the people responsible more justification for feeling persecuted.
