You're right to an extent - Wayne Bridge was doing really well for Chelsea until he found himself replaced. The main thing that made it a bad deal for Chelsea was losing Gallas, who Chelsea could really really do with right now, however he would have left Chelsea anyway, he wanted to leave for some reason and he was on his way before he was seen as part of the AC deal.
Ashley didn't get the warmest of welcomes from some Chelsea fans his performances have been very average (mainly 6 out of 10s) and I think he'll have to play a little better if he is truly going to endear himself to th Stamford Bridge faithful.

Ashley Cole is an over-rated England right back and was touted as Engliand's best right back player. His pride and greed has overtaken him when he was in Arsenal. He left Arsenal because he wants to earn more money from the move and win more titles. He felt Arsenal is not moving ahead and will not be as successful as Chelsea. However, he is not playing to his potential now at Chelsea as the players are not supporting him as well as when he was at Arsenal. Thus, his weaknesses are evident. Gallas is a better and versatile player, and he could play in any defence position given to him Mourinho knew that and he wanted to keep Gallas, but could not stop the transfer. Abramovich wanted to trim the team rather than keeping too much players, which is evident in the tension within Chelsea now.

Ashley Cole suited Arsenals play in my opinions, things were a bit erratic and hectic at the back... especially with Senderos running about, and Hleb doing his best to sabotage Arsenal's chances of atleast a Champions League spot, not to mention CRAZY Jens Lehman, who is possibly the most argumentative Arsenal players 3rd only to Martin Keown and Ian Wright.
Gallas is better than Ashley Cole, and Gallas bangs in a few goals now and again, aswell as contributing to midfield play and wing runs. Something which Ca$hley... yep Cashley Cole tries to do, but realised he just aint got the minerals!

Watch the Arron Lennon goal, Watch the pennant goal, Watch the Essien own goal, all Ashley Coles fault.
See why he only worth £55,000 a week now?
Cheers for Gallas

yes he was because chelsea dont play the same kind of football as arsenal , he's better going forward than defending thats why he was better at arsenal , arsenal had a few players who can play that position just as good thats why they got the better end of that deal with gallas .

Same is true for ferdinand, chasing the money and sitting back on your laurels to win games. ashley cole wanted to jump the band wagon and thought that by joining chelski he wouldn't have to play as hard.
Must be tough getting all that money and look at the possibilty of winning nothing.

you are bang right , Chelsea were super arrogant to let Gallas go and behaved dishonourably in their pursuit of Ashley Cole
apparently he spends most of the time denying rumours re his sexuality that he has no time to concentrate on defending

He's one of the ' baby Bentley bling brigade ' that cares more about his money and image than actually being a ' good footballer' ... he's a millionaire now and he's lost that hunger that made him a top player.
