Yes. He's a good pitcher but not 19 win good, as someone else mentioned he got a lot of run support last year. He also strikes me as one of those guys like Javier Vazquez who aren't suited to be the number 1 guy in the rotation.

No way. To even suggest that he is overrated is silly. Consider this. he plays in NY, where the A-Rods and the Jeters ( high profiles like a celebrity) are. He had 19 wins in his sophmore season with the Yanks. Sure he doesn't get alot of strikeouts but he has proven he doesn't have to. To argue with the statement that he gets alot of support is a moot point, isn't that what a "team" is all about? He's stepped up, he's played under incredible pressure, he is an Ace and if anything, he's underrated not over.

No, I certainly don't think he's overrated. I haven't heard anybody listing him among the top pitchers in the league, such as Santana, and I don't think he deserves to be, but he's a very good pitcher. 19 wins is deceptive, because Won-Loss record tells very little about a pitchers actual talent, but Wang should be a very productive pitcher for years to come. Also, in response to one of the other answers, he's from South Korea, not Japan.

I am not a Yankees fan and will admit that Wang is a great pitcher. The only real complaint I have is the fact that he really has only played one season. Wang is no Santana, as we all saw this year, but he is a highly skilled pitcher.

He's not overrated. There hasn't been any over boosting about his 19 wins from last year. He's a good young pitcher who had a good year on a team that has great run support.

No...I hate the Yankees but this guy is good. He eats innings and since he is a sinker baller he doesn't give up many HR's. In fact i think he might be one of the more underrated pitchers in the league

No. The guy had a good year and should have a decent one this year.
19 wins might be hard to match but he should be around 15+ if his sinker is working well.

I think too many peopleare too fast to crown him an all-star type pitcher. He has not proven it long enough. A lot of the Asian pitchers surprise people for a year or two then the league adjusts and they fizzle out.
