What do possums like to eat?

I think they like garbage.....my can was turned over and it was all over the place this morning. Could have been a raccoon, but I've seen the possum before. So it's only circumstantial evidence and won't stand up in court.

Oh, it did leave a trail of chicken bones.

If you have one as a pet (god forbid), cat food as the earlier poster said, mice (kill it first), lizards, fresh fruit, etc.

If this is not a pet...KEEP hands clear!! Their bite is one of the ugliest you'll every get. They have teeth like razors, and tend to clamp down until they are ready to let go.

they eat both vegies and meat. Although they prefer plants. They also eat snails, and have been known to eat the chicks and eggs of native birds. They also feed on the carcacesses of different animals.

They are scavengers so will eat almost anything. I raised a couple and after they were weaned I fed them leftovers, fruits, veggies and anything else I was going to toss out.
