Marino? Montana? Manning? Elway? Fouts? Brady? Another?

Marino is clearly the best, but because of publicity in his early career, he was never given the support system required for true public recognition. In the early days, the Dolphins were great because of team effort, led by the competant but not spectacular Greise. Along comes the media darling, and everybody yapped about his incredible hand-eye coordination. It was the green monster, not a lack of ability, that kept Marino from being widely recognized as the World's Greatest Quarterback, as his team-mates held back, just a little, to make certain the Golden Boy didn't get too fat of a head.

Look at the stats from the answer above . That tells the whole tale, all emotions notwithstanding.

Brady is still playing, and I think it is quite early to be talking about him as all time best.

Montana - guts and abilities to win late
Marino - records and stats.
Elway - leadership and best fourth quarter QB
Kelly - Never won the big one, but made it 4 in a row.
Favre - probably the most impressive streak in professional sports.

Today - I'd have to go with Montana.

Could change to Brady in the not to distant future.
