I admit it, I feel a little twinge of pity for the animal that was hit, and hope that it was fast and they didn't suffer. I've cleaned up a few too, knew the owners and didn't want their kids to see it. Found a bobcat kit once, next to the dead mother. Like to ate me up when I caught her, took her to a wildlife rehaber.
If it's a skunk though, I'm too busy holding my breath to feel anything but a need to get out of that air pocket fast, lol!

Sometimes. I remember one time a couple of months ago I ran over a little bird and I was going like 55 mph and other cars were around me so I couldn't swirve around it, I didn't want to cause an accident. I felt so bad afterwards, I'm just glad it wasn't an animal that was bigger.

Yah. I understand when people hit animals on highways when they're going really fast, okay, it's an accident....but when I see dead kitties on the street in a 25 mph zone, it just seems like a senseless killing to me. I'm sure some people do it on purpose...mean people.

I live in a very rural area so my only thought is getting my car around it without causing an accident. Those darn turkeys are so huge. Not to mention the deer.

Yes!!!! and I always think I am the only one. Nice to know someone else does too. I always wish the little spirit of the animal on to better places.

A few years ago I hit my first squirrel...oh my God was I mortified. I actually started crying! I couldn't stop though, I was going 45 mph and he darted out. So to answer your question, absolutely...it makes me really sad.

Yes, it breaks my heart, especially if its a pet in front of a house. I can't help imagining some little kid seeing it and crying. I know how terrible it feels to lose a beloved pet.
