Naturally ants are going to go where food is abundant and thrive where it is warm. The way the weather has been fluctuating between hot and cold probably has their hibernating period out of whack so they are probably on the prowl for food. I wood call an exterminator and ask for a price quote and any other questions you might have. Good luck!

Nope they are trying to find a warm place to put up for winter, If its the small piss ants as we call them buy the ant traps it is a small tray for them to eat out of and they take it back to their nest and it kills the rest of them.

No. They get cold, too, and are looking for a warm place to live.

Also, ants eat termites. They may be following a food source (termites) into your home.

I'd call a professional exterminator.
