I've stepped in dog doo and while I don't like it, I'd rather step in it barefoot than with shoes. It washes off easily & also you'll notice so you don't track it all over the carpet before you find out! :-P I think the grossest has been a snail, snails & slugs are a bit sticky so they don't wash off easily and I also don't like killing a harmless little creature, so the sad little crunch a snail gives makes it worse. Sometimes they come out in force after a spring rain here right around the house and that's about the only time I'll really watch the ground and pick my step; normally I just walk wherever I happen to go & trust my feet to deal with anything that may or may not be there.

I grew up on a farm and went barefoot for most of the summer. Nothing seemed particularly gross at the time. Everything was natural and close to the earth. Manure, slugs. Now if I'd have stepped into some chemical industrial waste I would have been horrified and a lot more damaged than by a little slug.

I watched a friend's dog...It was a HUGE dog too.
And I didn't know that the dog wouldn't cry or scratch to go out like mine do.
So, I didn't take him out.
And I stepped in a HUGE steaming hot pile of his...poo.I got sick and vomited, cause the poo pile was so big it covered the top of my foot and everything when i stepped in it.GR!
BLAH!

A large, fresh, soft, warm, reddish pile of dog crap! It was from our neighbor's collie we were pet sitting. I was young (maybe 9) and wasn't supposed to really be over there by myself anyway. Needless, to say I learned my lesson... :)
