In one sense, nothing is at absolute rest--except maybe for the "fabric" of spacetime. Nothing has a temperature of absolute zero. Temperature being defined as the inherent motion energy of a particle or object. Everything is moving. Now, with this motion, bring in the four forces of nature and their derivatives and things start moving relative to each other. Everything is moving relative to something else which is moving relative to something else, etc.

spin in quantum physics is the angular momentum inherent to a body. trouble is there no answer to your question as to why electrons and other elementary particles spin. they just do. as for the earth, theres a hot spinning core of iron at the center, which create a combination of viscous torque, electromagnetic fields, hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic forces, applied though the thicker mantle to the crust. smaller interactions such as gravity from surrounding objects (the sun) and other forces contribute in smaller ways. Rotations of other bodies are manifestations of similar processes and mathematics.

Electron spin is not the same as the spinning of non-quantum-mechanical objects. The earth, the sun, and galaxies spin because they've contracted (by gravity) radically from very large diffuse objects that had random motion, and their random motion just happed to be imbalanced in one direction. When you contract objects that have "almost" no spin, they have very high spins as small objects.

God's natural law. All things are constantly in motion and are in the process of evolving into something else.Imagine our planet if
it did not rotate. One side would burn up and the other side would be frozen. There could be no life. I guess that's why all bodies rotate.
